A welcome change...

2011 is turning out to be a year of new and pleasant changes for the Cleveland's reggae dancehall scene.  Finally, Cleveland dancehall reggae fans some options to here some tunes and relax.  Enter Tina's birthnite bash at Johnny and Co. for a welcome change of scenery. This bash was rocking from beginning to end!

As Chat 'Bout arrived to the venue, the parking lot and side streets were on full blast! It was a long walk for some of the ladies in their high heels and little jackets.  The sounds of Power Squad filled the air around Johnny and Co and as CBC entered the place, people were wall to wall. Guest of honor, Tina was in the place looking ?haute', as usual, with a sequin leopard printed dress. Killer hair and killer shoes, no less than what we expect from Tina at every dance.

PowerSquad turned Johnny and Co. into a true dancehall, playing a slew of dancehall favs for the crowd. (BTW, you can catch PowerSquad at Johnny and Co. every Monday for weekly vibes).  It was a good mix of both familiar and new faces, but Power seemed to take control of the vibes and had everyone rockin'. YHP Superdee and DJ Lawless, were on hand assisting in keeping the crowd hype.

In the place celebrating with Tina was Maggie Untouchable, Dainty Sharon, YHP Superdee and DJ Lawless, New Horizon Monk, KC Platinum, KiKi Tight, artist Marley Banton, Marcia and Shaheeda Platinum.  It was good to see Ms. Punkin out a well.

As the party drew to an (early) close, guests were treated to some Jamaican cuisine; including jerk and curry chicken, cabbage and peas and rice. My favorite? The 3 tiered chocolate brown and pink birthday cake...(for some reason, it sat behind the bar all night Dammit!)

Although this bar closed at a dancehall regulated early time, 2:30, the crowd seemed satisfied as Powerstone sang guests out of the bar and the party continued at Island Delight.

Big up Tina for a great bash..here's to an even bigger event NEXT year!

Too funny: By 2:30 a.m., long after management turned off the music and the lights came on, Cleveland's dancehall veterns continued to party on. After a look of WTH? On the staffs faces, someone kindly explained, 'This is early for this crowd' Looking more irritated, security says, 'this will go on until 4am!' I added, 'Yeah! If you let em!'

Big up CPD for giving me a damn ticket.not!
